What does it take for you to have a healthy soul? Have you ever asked yourself that question?
How are you feeling mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and what steps are you taking to move toward healing?
If you follow me on Instagram (I’m interacting on there a lot these days!), you may have seen that John and I were in Montana this past week as I was invited to take part in an interview at Fresh Life Church about the rhythms of a healthy soul.
I sat down with my friends, pastor Levi and Jennie Lusko, as we talked out loud about what it means to be healthy from the inside out, and what kind of things tend to keep us from getting there.
I started the interview by pointing out that
Just because we’re Christians, doesn’t automatically mean we’re healthy.
When we enter relationship with Jesus, we don’t expect that somehow our bodies will magically and instantly be transformed into healthy, muscular, six-packed human beings. We know that physical health takes work, and time, and investment, and intention.
But why do we apply that mentality to our spiritual, emotional, and mental health? Why do we often falsely assume that when we become Christians, all that stuff gets taken care of, with little to no responsibility, or effort, or work on our part?
Just as physical health takes work and effort, so does a healthy soul. So does emotional and spiritual and mental health. And it’s something we have to be in tune to, and aware of if we want to get to a better place from the inside-out. And you know what else? That’s exactly where healthy relationships start as well…from the inside out.
Because the healthier we become, the healthier our relationships will also become.
